What is the Homepage Hero?
The Homepage Hero is the first section visitors see on your site. It is a 1/3-screen banner with a background image, video, or color, overlaid with your title, description, and a search bar. An optional property gallery displays below it. When you first sync your site, a generic hero is created automatically.
How do I access my Homepage Hero settings?
Go to app.wander.com → Website (left menu) → Pages.
Click the page labeled Home to open the editor.
Click the Homepage Hero section at the top of the page layout.
The settings panel opens on the right side of your screen.
What can I customize in the Homepage Hero?
Title and Description
Title: Update this to your company slogan, brand motto, or a headline that captures immediate interest.
Description: Add a concise tagline about your properties or brand. In web design, less is more for maximum impact.
Background Options
You can choose one of three background types:
Color: Select a solid brand color. Use this if you don't have a hero image or video ready.
Image: Upload your own photo or browse the built-in Unsplash library, which offers free, high-quality stock photography you can search and use directly from the editor.
Video: Upload your own video or browse the built-in Pexels library for free, high-quality stock video. The video plays silently behind the hero content.
Note: Use high-resolution images with a minimum size of 1920x1080px for best results. A separate article on using Unsplash and Pexels in WanderOS is available for more details.
Background Opacity
Adjust the background opacity slider to control how dark the overlay appears on your background image or video. The default is 35%. Increasing opacity makes your title and description text more readable against busy backgrounds.
Property Gallery
Show Property Gallery: Toggle this on to display a scrolling row of property cards below the hero section. This is the default section on your homepage.
You have several ways to curate which properties appear:
Filter by city or state: Show only properties in specific locations (e.g., Miami, Colorado).
Filter by amenity: Show only properties with specific amenities (e.g., pool, hot tub).
Select specific properties: Manually search for and select individual properties to feature.
You can combine these methods. Manually selected properties appear first, followed by filter results.
Note: City, state, and amenity filters are dynamic. If a new property is added that matches your filter criteria, it will automatically appear in the gallery. For example, if you filter by Miami and a new Miami property is added to your PMS, it will show up without any manual updates.
Note: When no filters or selections are configured, the property gallery displays properties at random. It does not automatically cycle or rotate through your inventory.
Clicking "See more properties" at the bottom of the gallery takes visitors to the search page where they can browse all of your properties.
How do I save and preview my changes?
Click Save in the top right of the editor.
Click View Site next to the save button to see the live changes.
Note: It may take a few minutes for the live site to fully update.
