When should I use stock media instead of my own photos?
You should always prefer your own property photos for property pages, hero sections, and anywhere a guest expects to see what they are actually booking. Stock media is best for supporting and atmospheric content where a generic image works:
Lifestyle context shots on About or Brand pages
Destination, activity, or "things to do" guides
Blog post headers and inline imagery
Loading or placeholder visuals while you wait for new property shots
Background videos on hero sections when no property b-roll is available
Note: Never use stock photos to represent a specific property. Guests expect property page imagery to match what they will actually stay in.
How do I add a free stock photo from Unsplash?
You add a stock photo from Unsplash by opening any photo picker in the editor and switching to the Unsplash tab.
Go to app.wander.com and open Website → Pages, then open the page you want to edit.
Click any photo field in a section sidebar (for example, an image inside a Photos Grid or a Hero section).
In the Add a photo dialog, select the Photos by Unsplash tab.
Type a search term (3 characters or more) into the search box. Results load automatically after a short pause.
Click a photo to select it, then click Apply.
Click Publish when you are done editing the page.
Tip: The search box uses Unsplash's natural-language search, so descriptive phrases like "snowy mountain cabin at sunset" return more relevant results than single words like "mountain". Click Load more at the bottom of the grid to see additional pages of results.
Are these photos really free to use?
Yes! The Unsplash license allow free commercial use, including on your WanderOS direct-booking site, with no payment, no signup on your end, and no per-image fees.
What WanderOS handles for you:
Unsplash: WanderOS automatically reports download attribution back to Unsplash on your behalf, which is what their license requires from integrating apps.
What you should still do:
Avoid identifiable people in stock photos used in a misleading context (e.g. don't imply a stock-photo person is a real guest or staff member).
Avoid stock photos of buildings, interiors, or views that misrepresent a specific property.
Read the Unsplash license directly if you have a commercial use case outside the patterns above.
Troubleshooting
If you cannot find or add the stock media you want, check the most common causes below.
Search returns "No results": Try a shorter or more generic term. Searches require at least 3 characters and use natural-language matching.
Search shows "Start searching" and never loads: Type at least 3 characters. The search only fires once the query passes that threshold and a brief debounce.
I do not see a Photos by Unsplash: The integrations roll out gradually. If the tab is missing on your account, contact Wander support to confirm availability.
A selected photo or video looks low-quality on the live site: Both libraries return a single high-resolution asset. If quality looks off, the source asset itself may be limited. Pick a different result or upload your own file via the Upload tab.
I selected a photo but it did not save: You must click Apply after selecting the photo. Closing the dialog without clicking Apply discards the selection.
