How does Half Now, Half Later (HNHL) work in WanderOS?

A guide for property managers on enabling and managing the Half Now, Half Later payment option to improve booking conversion and offer guest flexibility on high-value stays.

What is Half Now, Half Later?

Half Now, Half Later (HNHL) is a flexible payment option in WanderOS that lets guests split their total booking cost into two equal installments. By lowering the initial financial barrier, HNHL helps you convert more guests on high-value luxury bookings.

How do I enable HNHL?

  1. Log in to app.wander.com.

  2. In the left sidebar, go to Channels → Website.

  3. Click Payment Options.

  4. Toggle Pay half now, half later to ON.

Once enabled, HNHL becomes available across all listings on your account that meet the 31-day eligibility window.

What does the guest see at checkout?

For qualifying stays (31+ days out), guests are presented with two payment choices:

  • Pay in Full (default)

  • Pay Half Now, Half Later

If the guest selects HNHL, their invoice and reservation details clearly display:

  • The amount due upon booking.

  • The remaining amount due later.

  • The exact due date for the second payment.

  • The last four digits of the card on file that will be charged.

Guests can check their payment status and remaining balance at any time from within their trip details.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if the second payment fails?

WanderOS automatically cancels the booking and notifies the guest. Per the HNHL policy, the first 50% installment is non-refundable.

Can I use HNHL with discount codes?

Yes. Discounts are applied to the total booking amount before it is split into the two 50% payments.

Can guests pay off the second installment early?

Yes. Guests can pay the remaining balance at any time before the scheduled charge date from their trip details page.

Best Practices

  • Promote HNHL on high-value listings. The lower upfront cost is most impactful on premium luxury stays where the full payment might create hesitation.

  • Set guest expectations. Mention the split payment option in your listing description so guests know flexibility is available.

  • Monitor failed payments. Check your Reservations dashboard regularly for cancellations triggered by failed second installments so you can re-market the dates.

  • Keep the 31-day window in mind. HNHL won't appear at checkout for last-minute bookings. For shorter lead times, Pay in Full is the only option.
