How do I configure house rules and safety info for my WanderOS listing?

How to set house rules and safety info for your WanderOS listing — what syncs from your PMS and what you configure manually.

Quick answer

You configure house rules and safety info from app.wander.com → Listings → click the listing → Listing Details → Rules. The page has two sections: Rules and Safety. Many rules — suitability for children and infants, pet friendly, maximum number of guests, events/parties, smoking, and check-in/check-out times — sync directly from your Property Management System (PMS). Other settings — quiet hours, safety considerations, safety devices, and property info — are configured manually in WanderOS and should be toggled on for any property where they apply. This applies to all WanderOS hosts and property managers.

How do I open the Rules tab?

  1. Log in to app.wander.com.

  2. Select Listings in the left sidebar.

  3. Click the listing you want to edit.

  4. In the listing's left sidebar, open Listing Details.

  5. Click the Rules tab.

The page is divided into two sections: Rules and Safety.

Important: For any field that syncs from PMS, update it in your PMS for permanent changes. A WanderOS edit may be overwritten on the next PMS sync.

How do I update PMS-synced rules?

  1. Open the listing in your PMS.

  2. Update the rule (max guests, pets, events, smoking, suitability, check-in/check-out times).

  3. Wait for the next sync into WanderOS.

  4. Open the Rules tab in WanderOS to confirm the new value.

How do I set quiet hours?

  1. Open the Rules tab.

  2. Find Quiet hours in the Rules section.

  3. Set the hours guests must observe quiet (for example, 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM).

  4. Save.

Tip: Match your quiet hours to your local noise ordinance if your municipality has one. Quiet hours disclosed up front are easier to enforce later.

How do I set Safety considerations?

The Safety considerations subsection is where you flag conditions a guest should know about before booking. Toggle on anything that applies to the property:

  • Pool or hot tub doesn't have a gate or lock

  • Nearby water (lake, river, pond)

  • Climbing or play structures

  • Heights without rails or protection

  • Potentially dangerous animals on the property

How do I set Safety devices?

The Safety devices subsection is where you disclose which devices are present at the property. Toggle each one on if applicable:

  • Exterior security camera present

  • Noise decibel monitor present

  • Carbon monoxide alarm

  • Smoke alarm

  • Alarm system

Important: Exterior security cameras and noise decibel monitors must be disclosed under most short-term rental platform policies and many local laws. Toggle them on in Safety devices even if they're a minor part of your setup.

How do I set Property info?

The Property info subsection is where you flag physical characteristics guests should know about. Toggle each one on if applicable:

  • Guests must climb stairs

  • Potential noise during stays

  • No cell service

  • Limited vehicle access (4WD/AWD required)

  • No parking on the property

Where does this data show up for guests?

Rules and safety info appear on your listing page before booking:

  • Rules appear in the House Rules section of the listing page.

  • Safety considerations, Safety devices, and Property info appear in the Safety section of the listing page.

Setting these accurately at booking time prevents disputes after check-in.

Why disclosure matters

Most short-term rental disputes trace back to a guest expectation that wasn't set in writing. Disclosing the right things up front does three things at once:

  1. Protects you legally. Disclosed security cameras and noise monitors are admissible context if a guest complains later.

  2. Filters mismatched bookings. A guest who needs ground-floor access will skip a property tagged "Guests must climb stairs" instead of arriving and demanding a refund.

  3. Sets the tone for accountability. Quiet hours and event policies disclosed up front are easier to enforce.

Best practices

  • Update PMS-synced rules in your PMS, not WanderOS. A WanderOS edit may be overwritten on the next sync.

  • Toggle every safety consideration, device, and property info item that applies — even ones that feel obvious (stairs, water nearby). Obvious to you is not obvious to a remote booker.

  • Disclose every camera and noise monitor. This is a legal and platform-policy requirement.

  • Set quiet hours that match your local ordinance.

  • Re-review after any property change. New hot tub, new camera, new pet policy — update the relevant tab the same day.
