How do I disconnect my custom domain?
Log in to app.wander.com.
In the left sidebar, expand Channels → Website.
Select Domain.
Find your connected domain and click Unpublish.
Check your email for a verification code and enter it in WanderOS to confirm.
Your domain will be disconnected from your WanderOS site.
The verification step exists to make sure no one disconnects your live site by accident.
What happens after I disconnect?
The DNS records pointing your domain to WanderOS are removed.
Visitors to your domain will see whatever was previously at that URL, or no website at all if no other DNS records exist.
DNS propagation can take a few minutes to a few hours, so the change may not be instant for all visitors.
Your WanderOS site itself is not deleted. Your listings, bookings, content, and data all remain in your dashboard. The domain just no longer points to it.
What should I do next if I'm moving to a new website?
If you're migrating away from WanderOS to another platform (Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, etc.), you need to point your domain to the new platform after disconnecting from WanderOS.
Set up the new site first. Build it out and have it ready to publish before you disconnect from WanderOS so guests aren't met with a broken page.
Get DNS instructions from your new platform. Most platforms provide their own connection guide with the specific DNS records (A, CNAME, etc.) you'll need to add.
Disconnect from WanderOS. Follow the steps above.
Add the new platform's DNS records to your domain provider. Log in to your registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.) and update the DNS settings per the new platform's instructions.
Wait for propagation. Allow a few hours (sometimes up to 24-48 hours) for DNS to fully roll out.
Verify the new site is live. Visit your domain in a browser to confirm it loads the new platform.
What should I do if I'm pointing my domain back to an old site?
If you're returning to a site you had before WanderOS (or one that's been sitting idle):
Confirm the old site is still hosted somewhere. If the hosting expired, you'll need to re-publish or rebuild the old site before reconnecting the domain.
Get the original DNS records for that site. Check your old hosting provider's documentation or settings panel for the records they require.
Disconnect from WanderOS. Follow the steps above.
Restore the old DNS records at your domain provider. Add the records back into your DNS settings.
Wait for propagation. A few hours to 48 hours, depending on your provider.
Verify the old site loads. Visit your domain in a browser to confirm.
If you don't have the original DNS records and your old hosting account is gone, you'll need to either rebuild the site somewhere new or contact your old provider for help recovering them.
What if I want to reconnect to WanderOS later?
You can reconnect at any time. Just follow the standard connection flow in How do I connect a custom domain to my WanderOS site?. Your WanderOS site, listings, and data are still in your dashboard waiting.
Best Practices
Time the disconnect carefully. Schedule it for a low-traffic window so guests aren't impacted mid-booking.
Keep your DNS records documented. Whether you're moving to a new platform or reverting to an old one, having the target platform's DNS records ready before you disconnect makes the transition smooth.
Don't disconnect in a panic. If something on your WanderOS site isn't working, contact support before unpublishing. Disconnecting won't fix the underlying issue and will create downtime.
