What are automated email campaigns?
WanderOS includes six prebuilt email campaigns that trigger automatically based on guest behavior and booking milestones. Toggle them on once and they run in the background, re-engaging guests, delivering trip details, and driving repeat bookings without any manual work.
What campaigns are available?
Campaign | When it triggers | What it does |
Welcome Sequence | Within minutes of signup or first booking | Introduces your brand and guides new guests to their next action. |
Pre Trip | 3 to 7 days before check-in | Sends directions, what to pack, and optional add-ons like late checkout. |
Check In Day | Morning of arrival | Delivers check-in time, access details, contact info, and local tips. |
Abandoned Cart | When a guest reaches the payment step but leaves without booking | One-click button back to a pre-filled checkout with their dates and total. |
Flash Rebook | Within 48 hours of checkout | Locks in the same property and dates next year at today's rate, with a 72-hour expiration. |
Stay Again | Based on previous stay date | Invites past guests to rebook the same or a similar property. |
How do emails get delivered?
Emails send from contact@[your domain] (e.g., [email protected]) through Postmark, with DKIM and DMARC authentication for inbox placement.
One-time setup: During onboarding, add the two required Postmark DNS records (DKIM and DMARC) to your domain provider.
If DNS is not yet connected, sends temporarily fall back to [email protected], which hurts open rates. Verify DNS early and keep it connected.
How do I activate a campaign?
Log in to app.wander.com and go to Growth → Email Campaigns.
Click the campaign you want to activate.
Use the Preview tab to confirm the email looks right.
Flip the toggle at the top of the page to Active.
Guests are enrolled automatically based on their activity. No manual contact uploading is required.
Note: Custom email templates are not editable yet, but the prebuilt templates dynamically populate guest names, property details, dates, and pricing. Custom editing is coming soon.
How do I read the dashboard?
The main Email Campaigns page shows last-30-day performance at the top:
Metric | What it tells you |
Total campaigns on | How many of the six campaigns are active. |
Total emails sent | Volume across all active campaigns. |
Total emails opened | Combined opens across all campaigns. |
Total clicks captured | Combined clicks across all campaigns. |
Unique users | Distinct guests reached. |
Open rate | Opens divided by sends. |
Click rate | Clicks divided by sends. |
Below that, every campaign is listed with an Active/Inactive toggle so you can turn campaigns on and off without leaving the page.
What's on each campaign's detail page?
Each campaign opens to four sub-tabs:
Tab | What you'll find |
About this campaign | Summary, How it works, and Key Benefits. Use this to understand the trigger logic and intended impact. |
Metrics | Last-30-day Deliverability (Total Sent, Bounces, bounce rate), Open metrics (Total Opened, Unique Opens, Open Rate), and Click metrics (Total Clicked, Unique Clicks, Click To Open Rate). |
Preview | Live render of the email with sample guest and property data. |
History | Per-send log: recipient, subject line, status (Processed, Bounced, Sending), date, opens, and clicks. |
How do I interpret performance?
High opens, low clicks? Your subject line is working but the offer or timing isn't compelling. Revisit the body copy or trigger window.
Rising bounce rate? Usually means stale guest emails in your PMS. Clean up the source data so future sends land.
Warm leads in History? Guests who opened or clicked multiple times but didn't book are worth a personal follow-up.
Sends going from
[email protected]? Your DKIM or DMARC records have lapsed. Re-verify them in your domain provider.
Best Practices
Start with high-intent campaigns. Turn on Abandoned Cart and Flash Rebook first. They target guests who already showed booking intent and convert at the highest rates.
Always preview before activating. The Preview tab shows exactly what guests will see, with sample data filled in.
Check metrics weekly. Use the per-campaign Metrics tab to spot what's working and what needs attention.
Pair Stay Again with the CSV importer. Import past guests via the Guests page before activating Stay Again so your full historical base is included from day one.
Verify DNS at onboarding. A connected domain builds sender reputation over time. The longer it's connected, the better your inbox placement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I edit the email templates or create custom ones?
Not yet. The prebuilt templates dynamically populate guest names, property details, dates, and pricing. Custom editing and multi-email series are coming soon.
Do I need to manage my own contact list?
No. Your contact list is built automatically as guests interact with your site or sync from your PMS. You can also manually import past guests via CSV from the Guests page.
What happens to my data if I turn a campaign off?
Future sends stop immediately. Historical data (sends, opens, clicks) remains visible in the Metrics and History tabs. Toggle it back on at any time and sends resume.
How far back do metrics go?
The dashboard summary and per-campaign Metrics tab show last 30 days. The History tab shows the full log of sends for that campaign.
What does "Processed" status mean in the History tab?
Postmark accepted the email for delivery. Opens and Clicks columns update as recipients interact.
